Graceland

I was able to visit Graceland when I was in Memphis a few months ago. Elvis Presley’s Graceland is nearly 14 acres and is now owned by his daughter. Graceland opened as a museum in 1982 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as of 1991; Graceland also became a National Historic Landmark in 2006. Today it boasts as being the second most toured house in the U.S., only surpassed by the White House.

Elvis purchased Graceland in 1957 for a little more than $100K (the equivalent today would be around $900K). When Elvis passed away he laid in state in Graceland’s foyer before being buried on the estate, along with several of his family members being buried on the estate. The graves can be found in the Meditation Garden

The estate was amazing to tour. The house has 23 rooms—including 8 bedrooms, 8 bathrooms, a living room, a music room with a black Baby Grand Piano and an old TV, and the infamous Jungle Room. I can’t wait to go back and spend more time touring Graceland in the near future.
