Swiss Days

Swiss Days is a festive celebration held in Midway, Utah around Labor Day weekend. The origin dates back to the late 1940’s when locals came together to celebrate their harvest. It was originally called Harvest Days, but was renamed Swiss Days to pay homage to ancestral roots. Today tens of thousands of visitors come to the festival; and locals wear traditional Swiss clothing to celebrate their roots.

The current festival boasts many activities and vendors. For activities, there’s a 10K race, a parade, a chuckwagon breakfast on Saturday morning, and a barbecue meal on Saturday late afternoon. Several booths are available to browse.

Food and drink booths are open from 8 AM to sunset both Friday and Saturday of that weekend in Midway Town Square. Swiss tacos, Swiss Kraut, handmade Swiss bread, homemade Swiss Bratzlies, pies, ice cream, sandwiches, scones with jam, candied apples, roasted nuts, and so much more. (The Swiss tacos, caramel apples, and the roasted nuts are so delicious.)

There are vendor booths that sell take-home items. You can find bath & body products, ceramic pieces, fine art (images & oil paintings), furniture, home decor & flower arrangements, cook books, jewelry, clothing, games, and toys. I enjoyed walking around the dozens of vendors and seeing all the goods being sold.

During lunch I listened to the entertainers performing and watched people, some of them in Swiss attire, walking around. I decided to sleep in and skip out on the parade…but the parade is neat to watch. The parade is complete with pageant attendants.

If you have a chance to attend—Swiss Days is totally worth it!
